Ice Pick Scar:

These are sharp and narrow ice pick scars that give the skin the appearance that the skin has been poked and punctured with an ice pick. The scars go deep into the skin till the subcutaneous layer or the deep dermis. Small and deep, they have jagged edges and are generally on the face. In several cases, ice pick scars are caused by acne. Ice pick scars are very visible and not easy to hide and so ice pick scarring can cause emotional trauma to people.

However, the good news is that there are several home remedies that you can try for ice pick scar removal. We also suggest that you consult a dermatologist or a skin care therapist, who can suggest several cosmetic methods for scar removal.

Ice pick scar treatment:

  • Vitamin E oil is known to remove scarring. You can apply this oil regularly to the affected area for improvement.
  • You can mix a spoonful of powdered nutmeg in a teaspoon full of honey. Slather this mixture on the scars and wash off after 20 minutes. Continue doing this twice a week, for a few months for results.
  • Some believe that Rosehip oil has scar-removing properties. This oil can be massaged into the scars a couple of times a day.
  • Make a healing paste by mixing powered sandalwood with powdered black gram lentils. Add a little water to mix the powders and apply it on the scars. Wash in the morning after keeping it on overnight.
  • You can prevent scars by applying a paste of Fenugreek leaves on your face. Keep it on overnight and wash it off with tepid water.
  • Another face pack that can cure and prevent scars is made with yoghurt, lemon juice, turmeric, and gram flour. Make a mixture out of the ingredients and apply it on your face. Wash after a few minutes.
  • Another treatment that several women find affective is one where a spoonful of baking soda is mixed with a bit of mineral water. This, some believe, when rubbed on the face, can make your skin smooth.
  • You can mix one-third cup of fine Fuller’s earth with a spoonful of fresh potato juice. Apply this face pack and wash it off after sometime. This is good for deep-cleansing and can keep your skin clean.
  • Make a paste with rosewater and sandalwood, and apply the mixture on the scars. Wash the paste off after about one and a half hours.
  • Also, visit a dermatologist to discuss alternate options.
