Spider Angioma: Symptoms, Causes and Treatment for Telangietasia Angioma

Spider angioma is a condition of the skin. It is also known as a type of Telangiectasis where a vascular lesion called telangietasia, occurs due to the enlargement of a set of blood vessels. These abrasions appear as rough or even, red colored line with appendages striking outwards. This gives it the term of Spider nevus. It is a very common ailment present in many children and adults. Pregnant women are affected by spider angiomas caused due to the increased estrogen amounts. People ailing from diseases of the liver also show a tendency to be affected due to the inability of the liver to purify estrogen.

Normally spider angiomas due cause any discomfort to the affected person and are typically asymptomatic. Spider Nevi are known to be found in pregnant women and children in a minor percentage. However in most of the cases they are reflective of an ailment such as cirrhosis of the liver which is not already known to the affected person. Wounds that look like many Spider nevi point towards a case of hereditary telangiectasia. This is a condition of the blood vessels which result in Bleeding and a deficiency in iron. In the majority of the cases of people affected by the Hepatisis virus result in Hepatic Spiders which appear to be very prominent. Women have also been known to suffer from sores during pregnancy or due to the consumption of contraceptives. Generally spider angiomas do not display any symptoms and therefore do not require any medical attention. In some cases treatment may be desired for aesthetic reasons. In this case, the central arteriole is eliminated by a needle electrodessication.  Another alternative is to use lasers but this is a process that is far more expensive.

Since spider angiomas is also an indication of liver disease especially cirrhosis, this condition may be avoided or controlled if the person eliminates the intake of alcohol. Any factor causing the anomaly, and which can be avoided should be done so to prevent the liver from further damage and thus preventing spider angiomas. The long term effects of spider angiomas are not known. The very appearance o symptoms caused by spider angiomas are harmless. Through the use of laser treatment angiomas can be rid of, however there are likely to e bruises and tenderness upon the removal of the skin condition. Moreover it is also likely that he condition may appear after the first treatment, hence it is necessary to repeat the laser treatment for a more successful outcome.
