Genital Herpes Symptom

If you think you have any genital herpes signs, you should get yourself checked by a doctor immediately. If your doctor comes up with a genital herpes diagnosis, you can start treatment immediately and avoid the unpleasant genital herpes symptoms and complications. Genital herpes is a common infection that affects both men and women. It is a highly contagious disease that is usually transmitted through sexual contact. Genital herpes is caused when a virus named the herpes simplex virus enters your body through a break in your skin. The place or area from which the virus had initially entered is where the sores, blisters and swellings eventually appear. Genital herpes usually affects the urinary opening, penis, vagina, cervix, or anus. Apart from this, genital herpes can also affect the other parts of the body like eyes, mouth, lips, tongue, gums, and so on, if they come in contact with fluid that is infected by this virus.

Symptoms of Genital Herpes

Most people who are infected by the virus show no genital herpes symptoms immediately. In others, the symptoms and signs of genital herpes are so mild, that they are barely noticeable. However, if the viral infection is very strong, the symptoms will start showing within the first 10 days of being infected by the virus. However, if the virus decides to remain dormant, there are times when the symptoms do not appear even after 30 years of being infected.

Symptoms of genital herpes vary from people to people. Some people may experience chills, fever, headaches and fatigue. Others may experience swollen glands, muscle aches, back pain and nausea. These are usually the initial symptoms of this disease. These symptoms are then followed by the experience of pain and itching near the genital area, inner thighs and buttocks. There will also be a burning or stinging sensation during urination. If the pain and itching lasts for several days, it will then be followed by the formation of sores and blisters around these areas. These sores and blisters will then rupture and form ulcers that bleed. After several days, the ulcers will form scabs and then eventually heal. This may lead a person to think that the infection has disappeared. But this will not be the case. The infection will be just lying dormant in the body until the next attack where the virus will reactivate itself and the sores will return. This happens because there is still no known cure for genital herpes. It is a disease that keeps recurring over the years. The only thing that changes is the frequency of the recurrence; for example, if there were six outbreaks of genital herpes in the first year, in the second year it will go down to four, and so on. With treatment, the frequency and intensity of these attacks can be considerably reduced, which is why it is important to recognize the problem from the very first genital herpes sign.
