Acne Remedy

Most sufferers feel there is no acne remedy but wait it out and pray that theirs is not a severe case. However, today, there is overwhelming variety of preventions and treatments to combat every kind of acne – from the humblest of whiteheads to the most vicious cystic inflammations. From kitchen to pharmacy to natural food store to dermatologist’s office, there are literally dozens of treatment routes, depending on your case.

Over-the-counter (OTC) topical treatments would be your first line of defense against outbreaks of acne. Benzoyl peroxide is the most popular chemical for this type of treatment. However, it is very important to treat acne early, as all treatments are actually preventions against later outbreaks. For more severe cases, there are oral and topical prescription medications. Besides, there are also traditional methods and laser surgery.

There is no need to worry – nearly 17 million people in the United States have acne, making it the most common skin disease. It affects almost all teenagers, not to mention a growing number of adults as well. Acne attacks all kinds of skin – with little or no heed to race or gender – on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. It can take the form of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, nodules or cysts. Acne sometimes clears up, on its own, after several years, even without treatment. However, in most cases action needs to be taken.
