Dark Skin Remedies and Removing Dark Spots on Face

Hi, my skin has become dark after pregnancy. Both sides of my face are getting darker. Please suggest some remedies.

It is very common for the color of the skin to change when you are pregnant. This happens due to the hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy. These hormonal changes temporarily increase the production of a substance called melanin. Melanin is the substance in our body that provides color to the skin, eyes, and hair. When this change in color is reflected on the face, especially on the cheeks, it is commonly known as the “mask of pregnancy”. Usually, this change in color fades after delivery. However, in a few cases, this kind of discoloration happens after the delivery. The reason for this too is the same, hormonal changes. The body once more goes through a lot of hormonal changes after the baby is born. With time, as the hormonal levels of the body get back to normal, the color of your face will get back to normal.

In the meantime, there a few things that you can do to help with the process. Whenever you go out of the house, make sure that you always apply sunscreen lotion to protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun. This will ensure that your skin does not tan or change color any further. In fact, even if you do not go out of the house, it is advisable that you apply a sunscreen lotion once in the morning. Apply aloe vera gel to your face every night before going to sleep. This will prove beneficial in lightening the color of your skin. Make a pulp out of an orange and gently rub this pulp over your face in a circular motion for around 10 to 15 minutes. Orange will not only clean your skin, but also help to lighten it. Another thing that you can do is make a mixture out of whole milk, almond oil, honey and lime juice. Make sure all of them are in equal proportion. Gently rub this into your skin and leave it on of half an hour. Use lukewarm water to wash it off. Use only gentle or mild facial cleansers. Avoid using any kind of skin bleaching products. These will just aggravate you problem. Since it is necessary to exfoliate your skin regularly, it is advisable not to use any readymade scrub right now. Instead, prepare a scrub that contains sugar crystals and olive oil. Rub this gently into your skin till the sugar crystals dissolve, and then wash your face with warm water.
