Treatment for Navel and Navel Problems

Are navels in babies common or is it a severe disease. How to get rid of swollen navel on the baby?

If your baby is less than six months old, then you should simply ignore this particular problem. A lot of children have protruding navels which are completely and perfectly normal occurrences. This phenomenon takes care of itself over a period of time. If your child is not bothered by it and is otherwise healthy, you should simply leave the problem alone. However, if the child seems to be in some sort of obvious discomfort and seems to be bothered by the navel, then you should consult a pediatrician at once. Also keep in mind that when dealing with such a small child, these attempts can also backfire and cause more complications. However, if your baby is over six months old, then you can try certain methods to take care of it. Once again, only attempt these remedies if the child in not in any kind of pain or discomfort. If the baby seems irritated at your attempts, stop at once and see a pediatrician. The best way to try and easy any bumps on or around the navel area is to gently massage it with olive oil. While there is no guarantee that this will work towards easing the swelling or the bumps, there is also the assurance that there will be no adverse effects if you follow this method. You can also apply warm compresses to bring down the swelling and take care of any protrusions that there may be in the navel area. The best way to do this is to soak a washcloth in warm water and apply repeatedly to the navel. This will help to bring down the swelling and will also help the child in case there is any case of gas or indigestion. It is also possible that gas may have caused the swelling you are describing. Most of the time, applying a warm washcloth to the navel eases the child of gas. But make certain that the washcloth is warm and the baby can take it.
