Home Remedies for Skin Lightening and Permanent Skin Whitening

How to lighten skin for better glow on the face? Are there any Home Remedies for glowing skin?

Dark skin can be caused due to a lot of other factors that do not include genes. Factors like bruising, wrong diet, side effects of medications in some cases, suntan and even changes in hormone levels during pregnancy can cause skin to darken. All these are more or less temporary and hence can be remedied , however if you have dark skin due to your genes then trying to lighten your skin will do more damage than good to your skin. Our skin color is a result of the action of something known as melanocytes present in our skin cells. These melanocytes when present in a higher concentration result in darker skin, therefore reducing the concentration or intensity of the pigmentation will result in lighter skin. To begin with you can try using an over the counter skin lightning cream that contains hydroquinone. Hydroquinone helps by slowing down the melanin production process, however the side effects of ‘over use’ include skin irritation and in extreme cases a high concentration of hydroquinone may even be carcinogenic. Another alternative is using a cream that contains kojic acid, which also has an effect on the rate of melanin production. These creams may sometimes have harmful side effects (if you are allergic to certain ingredients present in the cream itself) and hence it is advisable to consult your doctor or dermatologist before using any of them.

Other than the use of creams or non – organic skin lightening solutions you can also try some of these home remedies. They are simple to prepare and easy to use and usually have little or no side effects even after prolonged use. The first remedy you can try is a paste of oatmeal and tomato juice. Once you have prepared the paste apply it to your face and leave it on for about fifteen or twenty minutes.  Applying a mixture of turmeric powder and lemon juice has also been fond to reduce a tan. Make sure to give these remedies time to produce results and hence continue using them for about two or three weeks before discarding the treatment solution. If they do not work then you can try the home remedy mentioned below. Take a small spoon of milk powder and add to it a spoon of honey, half a spoon of almond oil and a spoon of lemon juice. Mix them well and then apply it to your face. Rinse the pack off thoroughly after about fifteen or twenty minutes.
