Toddler Skin Peeling and Hand Peeling Treatment

Hi, My 2years old son is got peeling of skin on hand and foot. He cannot wear his shoes. What can be the cause of it?

Peeling skin can have many causes. It could be a bacterial infection, which manifests itself in this fashion for most part. It could also be some sort of allergy that your child is suffering from. If you are currently experiencing winter in your part of the world, it could also be the cold that is making this happen. In a lot of cases, cold can make skin dry up and start peeling. This would also cause a lot of discomfort, which is probably why your son does not want to wear shoes either. Sometimes, this kind of peeling of the skin is also accompanied with bleeding and pain. You should also check for signs of bleeding, as your two year old son may not be able to tell you exactly what is bothering him. In any case, the first thing you would need to do is to visit a doctor and get a medical opinion as to why your son is facing these problems. It is preferable to visit a dermatologist, a skin specialist, who may be considerably more helpful in the matter. It is very important you do this before you begin any kind of treatment or self administration.

If your son is diagnosed with excessively dry skin, you should begin a program of skin care as well as add some more grease to his diet to take care of matters. A simple cold cream or creamy body lotion would be the perfect thing to begin a skin care routine with. Every night before going to bed, make it a point to wash his feet with warm water and medicated, anti bacterial soap thoroughly. Then, while his feet are still warm, rub cold cream into them well and thoroughly. Cover his feet with light cotton socks and let him sleep with those, so that the cream has an opportunity to work all night. This should take care of dry skin within a week. You should also add substances such as butter, creamy milk and cream to his diet. This will also help to improve the quality of his skin from within. Clarified butter, especially, can help with the healing process more than regular butter. If the peeling skin is also bleeding, add a pinch of turmeric powder to a tablespoon of melted butter and apply this to the area. This will help to heal the sores and will also stop the bleeding within a few days.
