If the natural color and appearance of your skin is dark, there isn’t much that you can do to lighten that color extensively. The only way that can be done is through medical treatment, under the guidance of a qualified dermatologist. However, if you have the patience and are willing to put in the required effort, there are few things that you can do to lighten the color of your skin. But please keep in mind that this change in color will be gradual, will take a long to happen, and won’t be drastic.

One of the age old remedies to get fair skin color is to apply a mixture of lemon juice, milk cream, honey, and almond oil. Rub this mixture into the skin and wash it off after half an hour. Do this as frequently as possible. If you don’t want to do this, then you can have a bath with milk. Pour whole creamy milk into your regular bath and sit in it of at least 15 minutes. Milk is known to have natural but mild bleaching properties. As such, this will help to lighten your skin over a long period of time. Another thing that is highly effective in lightening the color of the skin is aloe vera gel. Exfoliating your skin on a regular basis will not only help to lighten it to a certain extend, but will also lend a certain glow and shine to your skin. For normal to dry skin, one of the best scrubs for exfoliating the skin is a mixture of olive oil and sugar crystals. Rub this gently into your skin till the sugar crystals melt. Immediately have a bath with warm water to seal in the moisture. For oily skin, make a scrub of unflavored yogurt, coarsely ground (but with sand like consistency) walnut, and orange peels which are dried and powdered.

There is another very effective remedy for lightening the skin color and skin care. It is, however, a slightly lengthy process. Take a few strands of saffron and soak it overnight in a cup of milk. In the morning, add around six teaspoons of almond powder to this milk, blend them well into a fine paste and leave it of an hour. After an hour, apply this paste to your body. Wash it off with warm water only after it has dried off naturally. You can also apply a mixture made of equal parts of lemon juice and honey.
