Fingernails are basically made of a protein which is commonly known as keratin. Keratin is not digestible if eaten in raw form, but it can be easily consumed in other ways to grow and strengthen your fingernails. The best way to make your fingernails grow faster lies only in edible solutions. You would have to increase your intake of all sources of protein in your diet for stronger and healthier fingernails. Milk based products would include ice creams, puddings, desserts and smoothies. Milk is one of the best sources of keratin. However, you should know that having your normal daily consumption of milk is not enough. The other rich source of keratin would be meat protein. Eating any kind of meat will be a good way to add length and strength to your nails. In particular, bone marrow is a very rich source of this particular product. If you are vegetarian and do not consume meat in any form, then you can derive your proteins from a vast variety of plant products. These would include soy beans, whether cooked or raw. Lentils, whether matured or raw, are an excellent and rich source of protein. All kinds of beans, such as fava, pinto, broad beans, kidney, mung and white are also extremely rich sources of plant proteins. Peanuts are very rich in proteins as well. All nuts and dry fruits such as cashews, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, pecans and Brazilian nuts are extremely rich sources of plant proteins. To maintain healthy nails, you should also take care of your nails generally. Keep them clean and trimmed at all times. Indulge in a manicure and pedicure at least once a month. Keep your nails free of polish for some time each week, so that they can get their required supply of oxygen. Keep your hands well moisturized with moisturizer or cold cream at all times so that your nails are also healthy. Follow all of these methods and you will not have to worry about your nails too much.
