Red blotches on hands, Red blotches on feet & Get rid of red blotches

My name is Kori and I need some help, I have painful, red blotches on both feet and my hands, I suddenly got them and I don’t know how to get rid of them, what caused them?

It is impossible to accurately diagnose what your problem might be without actually physically examining it. Therefore your best chance of figuring out what it is would be a trip to the doctor or a dermatologist. However the blotches that you describe could be a Tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor infection. A common skin infection that is caused by a yeast bacteria known as yeast Malassezia furfur. The yeast is commonly found in human skin and gets aggravated in warm and humid environments. The spots caused by this infection are normally irregular in shape and are a quarter of an inch across in size. These blotches are sometimes pink in color with a slight reddish undertone thus giving it the appearance of red blotches. They are not normally very painful but give a 'pin prick' sensation when there is a raise in the body's temperature. But this pain usually stops once you start to sweat. It is a commonly occurring condition and the skin disorder is not contagious. However it is recommended that you consult your doctor as soon as possible to avoid any further complications and to get a proper diagnosis and a treatment solution.

If you do indeed have a Tinea versicolor infection then treatment is very simple and you can more or less carry out treatment to get rid of such red blotches on feet or hands by yourself. You can begin with consuming a healthy diet that includes fruits, whole grains and vegetables. These foodstuffs are beneficial as they contain antioxidants that strengthen your immune system and thus it helps fight off the infection faster. Yoghurt is also a good food to consume as it contains acidophilus (it keeps the bacteria level in check and reduces the extent of the infection). Apart from a diet, you will need to use an antifungal agent that can be topically applied to your skin. There are a number of over the counter varieties for getting rid of red blotches and they should be applied to your skin for a period of about 10 – 15 days for any noticeable relief. Another option is the using a shampoo that contains selenium sulphide. Apply the shampoo to the affected are and leave it on for about fifteen minutes and then wash it off thoroughly. The course of treatment is generally two to five weeks. Apart from over the counter solutions there are a variety of prescription creams that are more effective in treating your disorder related to red blotches but consulting your doctor immediately is probably the most practical thing to do.
