Teen Acne Treatments & Acne Tips for Teens

You are at an age when the appearance of acne is usually at its highest in most people (i.e. teen age acne). This is due to the hormonal changes that accompany adolescence. These hormonal changes usually result in the secretion of excessive oil by the sebaceous glands. This oil, combined with the dirt and pollution in the environment, tend to clog the pores making it difficult for the skin to breathe freely. Dead skin, that does not shed naturally, also has the tendency to clog the pores. These, in turn, lead to acne in teens. To open your pores, the best thing that you can do is exfoliate your skin. For this you can prepare a mixture of coarsely ground walnut and yogurt. Gently rub this scrub over your face for five minutes before washing it off with warm water. This will open up your pores, thus allowing your skin to easily flush out toxins. This will also improve your circulation, which is an effective way of reducing the oiliness of the skin.

To treat as well as control the acne, make a paste of one tablespoon of powdered orange peels, six drops of lime juice, and one tablespoon of unflavored yogurt. Apply this paste to your face, leave it on till it dries, and then wash it off, preferably with warm water. This will not only fight acne and rejuvenate your skin, but the lime juice will also help to disinfect your skin. You can also apply honey to your face once a week. Honey not only has antibacterial properties that disinfect and heal, it also has the ability to remove excess oil from the skin, thus taking care of both the acne and the oiliness of the skin.

Apart from applying all these things, you can also make sure that your diet includes plenty of vitamin A. Vitamin A maintains and repairs the tissues of skin and is also an antioxidant that helps the body to get rid of toxins. The best supply of vitamin A is through carrots. Also make sure you eat food that is rich in zinc, as the lack of zinc can also cause acne. Drinking a lot of water is an absolute must. Instead of the mandatory 8 glasses of water, try and drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of water. Water will help the skin to flush out the toxins.

And, no matter how tempted you are to do so, do not touch, rub or try to scrap off the acne. This will just aggravate the situation more.
