Bleaching at home - Milk is considered one of the most natural and best bleaching co-agent traditionally. So buy yourself a box of whole milk powder (WMP) preferably or else of skimmed milk powder (5MP) and follow this routine.

Take two tablespoons of the milk-powder, and (20 Volume) Hydrogen Peroxide enough to make a paste. Hydrogen Peroxide is usually available at the chemist shop. (20 volumes, represents the strength and not the quantity). To this paste, add a few drops of glycerin and apply it on the dark spots. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and then rinse it off. After rinsing, if the skin feels dry and taut, use a generous amount of moisturizing lotion.

Zinc oxide is really effective in lightening the blemishes and highly pigmented spots. Use a zinc cream, available in the market by the name of zincavet, regularly on the spots.

Break Vitamin E capsules and mix in a few drops of castor oil and apply it on the deeply pigmented areas. 'I11is recipe is extremely good in treating pigmentation.

Scrubs and Masks for Skin Peeling

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of plain sugar granules in your cleansing cream and work it into the skin by rubbing it gently. Rub all over the face but concentrate on blemished spots. 'I11e sugar will be absorbed into the skin. Rinse the face with hot water first, then with warm water, then with cool water and finish with a cold splash. In case of oily skin use the scrub twice a week. For dry skin use it once a week.

Crush some almonds or some cereal (broken wheat) and mix it in two tablespoons of honey. Gently rub the granular paste on the face for few minutes. Rinse off with cool water.

Grate the skin of a papaya and mix 1/2 cup of Fuller's earth, the oil of 2 Vitamin A capsules and mix in the paste. Apply the paste on your face, rinse off after twenty minutes.

Make some carrot pulp and mix in it some Fuller's earth to a thick paste. Crush a Vitamin C tablet for good measure. Apply this mixture for twenty minutes and rinse off. You can use these scrubs and masks at least once a week.

Be sure your skin does not get too dry from these treatments. Moisturize the freckled or pigmented areas after treatment. Pat any of the following home-made lotions on freckled or pigmented skin.

Butter milk is gentle bleach.
Equal parts of malt vinegar cucumber juice and rose water.
Two tablespoons of grated radish (horse radish) simmered in milk and made into a paste.

Do's and Don'ts of Pigmentation

  • In case of uneven skin tone in patches, supplement Iron and Calcium in your diet with the advice of a doctor.
  • If the complexion is pale and dull, supplement Vitamin A in your diet to improve color.
  • In case of a severe pigmentation for a long period of time, consult a physician.
  • Have a Vitamin B Complex capsule every day. It is harmless as it is water-soluble and the excess is easily flushed out.
  • Do not use cosmetics which have coloring agents.
  • Try to avoid or else use minimal make-up.
  • Wear a sun block cream before going out in the sun for the day.
  • Avoid using oral birth control drugs and sleeping pills. For asthma and diabetes, use only the prescribed dose, and use a sun block when out in the sun.
  • Avoid distress and anxiety as much as possible.
