Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails are the latest invention in grooming and care of nails. Basically, they are artificial nails applied over your real nails. They are prepared from either EMA (ethyl methacrylate) or MMA (methyl methacrylate).

How To Apply Acrylic Nails?

Following is the procedure to apply acrylic nails.

Instruments And Materials Needed:

  • Nail file
  • Nail prep
  • Tip fitting snugly to your nail
  • Adhesive (thin or gel based)
  • Primer

Procedure:

  • It is recommended that you listen to your favorite music while performing this procedure at home as it may be time consuming.
  • Rinse your hands thoroughly with mild soap and warm water.
  • Use the nail file to give uniform length and shape to your nail according to your chosen tip.
  • Soak your hands in an anti-microbial agent for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the cuticle.
  • Apply prep to your nail to remove oils and moisture temporarily.
  • Apply primer to the natural nail to give it a chalky white hue.
  • Apply adhesive to the nail taking care that it spreads evenly.
  • Now choose a tip that best fits to the curve of your nail. Hold it at an angle to nail plate and slide forward until it fits snugly to natural nail. Press gently for 10 seconds to form an air tight bond.
  • Blend the tip with the natural nail so as to remove the shadow of the tip.
  • Again cleanse, dehydrate and apply primer to the natural nail after this procedure.
  • You should always keep in mind to avoid as much skin contact as possible while using any chemicals.
