Prickly Heat

Prickly heat in males has multifactorial etiologies. Poverty, malnutrition, unhealthy lifestyles and hereditary reasons and environmental hazards play a significant role as causal factors of prickly heat in males. Prickly heat rash is the most common condition among males and carries with it the highest rate of all hereditary conditions affecting this sex. Skin disorder symptoms are rare in women, but when it does occur, it is usually not recognized, until late and thus the results of treatment are poor.

The Charity aims to find a treatment of prickly heat by funding research which looks at improving diagnosis of prickly heat, better understanding how it develops and ultimately either curing the ailment or preventing it.

Treatment for prickly heat rash implies examining the skin conditions of the patient. Because of the interventions, the medical experts are able to view and analyze the irregularities in the skin reactions of the patient. Having the capacity to analyze the patient’s skin conditions through the use of the interventions has been a major advance in the analysis and establishment for prickly heat treatment, and this procedure prevents the worsening of the case and other complications that may occur.  

In all these, the nurses are responsible for coordinating care following any operations and/or treatment for prickly heat rash. As well as supporting the patients and his/her family through the recovery and treatment, the nurses can provide the patient and his/her caregivers with clear written and verbal information; and can also examine the patient and arrange any tests that might be needed. It is also important to remember that denial is a common and important coping strategy for many males with prickly heat. This is just a normal psychological process and what the nurse can do is to provide support.

Friends and relatives can be a major source of support, but face their own difficulties. They have to provide emotional support, physical care and help in making decisions about treatment of prickly heat. Many of the observations about the impacts of skin disorder are as true for them as for the male patient.
