Herbs for Dandruff and home remedies for dandruff

Dandruff has spoiled the quality of my hair. What are the cures for dandruff?

Dandruff is a symptom rather than a problem in itself. It is an unpleasant indicator of an unhealthy scalp that has been neglected and not well looked after. Many times, the most obvious solution seems to be to use anti dandruff shampoos. But this is usually the most useless and ineffective method to get rid of dandruff. You may develop a clean scalp, but it will be temporary, and the problem will have been resolved only superficially. To get rid of dandruff, you have to tackle the problem at the roots, rather than the surface. Among the more effective measures is using tea tree oil to get rid of dandruff. All you have to do is add 5 mls of tea tree oil to a large bottle of your regular shampoo. The anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that are inherently contained in tea tree oil will actually help to clear up a severe case of dandruff by almost 90 per cent within a week or so. You can continue to use the shampoo as you normally do. Make it a point to use lime to help out with your dandruff once a week. Apply warm almond or olive oil to your hair and let it stay overnight. About a couple of hours before washing rub half a lime into your scalp in vigorous circular patterns. This should manage to disturb the roots of your hair. Once this dries, it will begin to scratch, which is a clear indicator that lime juice is effectively removing the dandruff from your scalp. Wash off as usual.

A hair salad made with whipped yogurt, black gram flour and a tablespoon of lemon juice will chase dandruff away. You can use this remedy every alternate week. This will also help to condition your hair. Another highly effective way to get rid of dandruff is to use camphor. You can make a rinse for your hair by powdering a few pieces of camphor and adding them to water. Shake well and use this to rinse out your hair. Soak a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water and use this water to rinse your scalp. This is yet another effective way to get rid of dandruff. It is important that you keep in mind that all of these remedies will take a long time to show positive results. So you would need to be very patient and keep at it.
