Adult Acne medication and remedy

Just when you have crossed your teenage years and think that you are free of the clutches of the ubiquitous acne predicament, a zit or a blemish pops up on your face. You thought acne wouldn’t catch up with you at this age, but there it is. This need not upset you, for every one in five women happens to experience adult acne.

What involves acne formation? Regardless of age, acne occurs due to the excess production of sebum in the sebaceous glands surrounding the hair follicles which lubricates the skin to keep it moist. The other reason is that dead skin cells get trapped in the follicle canal, block the pores and cause blackheads. Keratin, a protein, and an essential component in skin, nails and outer skin, is sometime overproduced and joins with dead cells to result in breakouts of acne. Other reasons can include exposure to toxins in the workplace, stress, a poor diet and medication such as steroids or oral contraceptives that trigger acne in adults.

How do I clear adult acne? Many medicated ointments available over the counter are quite effective for acne, but some may be too harsh and they are also often expensive. Natural adult acne medication is an inexpensive and reliable option.  It is also important to drink plenty of water as it helps the skin to expel toxins from your body. When you do this, you do not allow any waste to pile up in your digestive system.  Green tea is an excellent adult acne remedy.

Herbal treatments are effective adult acne remedies too.  You can use orange peel pounded well with water to apply on affected acne areas. Cucumber leaves or grated pieces of cucumber are also good. Rub a freshly cut clove of garlic on the acne to reduce the inflammation. The paste of fenugreek leaves applied overnight and washed in the morning also clears the skin. A little paste of sandalwood clarifies the toxins. The Indian gooseberry is also good in fighting infection. You can try turmeric which is an efficient disinfectant and healer. A honey and lemon mask can be applied twice a week to heal the blemishes. Honey has antibacterial and toning qualities.

An intake of fruits with rich vitamin and zinc sources will help you keep away acne. A lack of these essential elements can set off acne. The best fruits to eat are apple, grapes, and oranges.

What to avoid. Try not to scrub your face as it will aggravate acne.  Refrain from the urge to pick or squeeze your pimples or blackheads.  Tie your hair to keep it away from face. Wash your face twice a day with mild soaps.  Wash or change pillow cases to keep away recurring acne.
