Acne Cures

There are several cures for acne in the market today but not all of them are effective (or even medically proven!). Acne is caused by the clogging of your facial pores and so an effective acne cure would either help to unclog your pores or ensure that it does not get clogged. Although your pores will not get clogged by dirt they can get clogged with dead skin cells. Your skin contains glands that secrete oil (sebum) and the overproduction of this oil coupled with excess dead skin cells plugs your skin pores. This in turn traps a naturally occurring bacterium (P. acnes) within it causing acne. Bactericidal products that contain benzoyl peroxide are extremely effective as benzoyl peroxide can dissolve the oil that plugs your pores. In addition to this, benzoyl peroxide also kills the P. acne bacteria thus preventing further outbreaks. Unfortunately, benzoyl peroxide frequently causes dryness and local irritation, so it would be advisable to use preparations that contain a low benzoyl peroxide concentration as well as a non-comedogenic moisturizer. If you have dry or sensitive skin you can use a product that contains Azelaic acid as it does not have any of the side effects that are associated with benzoyl peroxide. However, azelaic acid is relatively mild and is only effective in cases of mild or moderate acne.

Cure for Acne

In some cases, where topical antibiotics have been ruled out, oral antibiotics are prescribed as a cure for acne. There are also topical and oral retinoids that are used only in severe cases as they cause significant skin inflammation and irritation.

There are also many natural acne cures. Natural treatments range from essential oils to herbal teas and while some of them are unsubstantiated, many of them have been scientifically proven. Honey has antibacterial properties so using honey in homemade face masks on a regular basis will help to reduce outbreaks. Mix equal quantities of tomato juice and lemon juice and apply it to your face at least once a day. Lemons and tomatoes are acidic and will help your skin to slough off easily thus preventing your pores from getting clogged. Include pumpkins and carrots in your meals everyday to ensure that you get your daily requirement of Vitamin A. Vitamin A helps to repair damaged tissue, prevent acne and reduce sebum production. Tea tree oil is an essential oil that is used extensively in natural treatments for acne. This viscous oil has strong antibacterial properties and destroys the bacteria that cause acne. As it is easily absorbed by the skin it is an ideal body acne cure.
