Dandruff is a common skin disorder and is caused by the dead cells that are formed on the scalp. As long as dead skin cells are shed within limit it is considered normal, but when the scalp sheds excessive amount of dead skin cells it is considered a problem. Dandruff, though not a serious problem, can lead to social awkwardness and low self-esteem. The common symptoms of dandruff are tiny white flakes of dead skin on the hair and shoulders and itchiness of the scalp. Dandruff is linked to several causes - dry skin, scalp infection, poor hygiene, unsuitable cosmetics, improper lifestyle, etc.

Hygiene is of utmost importance for dealing with dandruff. Wash your hair regularly and keep it clean and well-conditioned. There are many homemade remedies that can be used to wash your hair. Fenugreek seeds are known to help treat dandruff of hair. Soak fenugreek seeds overnight and ground them into a paste. Apply this paste on your scalp and wash it off after about 15 minutes. You can also use soap nut as a shampoo on your hair. Apple cider vinegar is another effective remedy for dandruff. Apply apple cider vinegar with your shampoo while you wash your hair. Similarly, lemon juice can also be used to massage the scalp. For maximum benefit, both apple cider vinegar and lemon juice should be kept applied on the scalp for about 15-20 minutes. Another homemade dandruff remedy can be prepared by boiling coconut oil with black pepper. After you have allowed the solution to cool down, sieve it using a clean piece of cloth and store the oil in a bottle. Apply this oil on your scalp and hair regularly to fight off dandruff.

Excessive dandruff can also lead to hair fall, which you seem to be already experiencing. A commonly used natural remedy for fighting hair fall is to apply the juice of Indian gooseberry (Indian gooseberry) on the hair and scalp. In case you cannot find Indian gooseberry, there are hair oils containing Indian gooseberry extract easily available in the stores. You should massage your scalp regularly with Indian gooseberry oil. Coconut oil is also beneficial for strengthening the hair roots and prevent hair fall. Massaging the scalp is important because it not only removes dead cells from the scalp but also stimulates blood circulation in the head. For similar benefits, besides giving massages to your scalp, you should also brush your hair regularly.

Finally, ensure that your diet contains lot of vegetables and fruits along with other nutritious foods. Also, avoid processed foods and drink plenty of water all throughout the day.
