21 Summer Hair Care Tips

Summer hair damage is often ignored as the effects take a while to become obvious. Basic hair care practices should be a part of any daily care regimen. In addition to this, it is important to protect your hair from the elements and provide it with the additional moisturizing that it needs during this season.

Protective clothing: Because of the increased amount of UV rays from the sun, hair damage is very common during summer. To prevent damage caused by the sun, hair protection in the form of a cap, scarf or a hat is necessary.

Chlorine: Chlorine from swimming pools can weaken your hair and increase breakage. Wear a swim cap to protect your hair.

Sea salts: Oil your hair well before you go for a dip in the ocean as sea salts can damage your hair. Make sure that you wash your hair well after your swim.

Hair band: Tie your hair when travelling, to protect it from dust and particle pollutants.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil acts as a mild sunscreen and protects your hair from damage caused by the sun's harmful UV rays. It is also very rich in nutrients and antioxidants and helps to keep your hair moisturized.

Sunscreen oil: If you intend to spend a lot of time outdoors, you can use a hair oil that contains sunscreen compounds as this will offer superior sun protection.

Cooling summer shampoo: lavender oil has a cooling and soothing effect, so add a few drops of this oil to your regular shampoo just before you use it.
